BOOKS

Nitsa is a photographer, visual artist and author of numerous books centering on her “non-politically correct” photographic style… She’s been at it for a while, longer then the current Lomo craze anyway. Her unorthodox approach was ahead of its time and the refreshing aspect is that Nitsa doesn’t make a big deal out of what camera she’s using and makes it a point to emphasize that it doesn’t matter what camera you use as long as it’s a working one. That being said she does have a pretty extensive collection of cameras of various vintages, makes and models.
Glance through Nitsa’s website www.nonphotography.com gives advice on breaking the dogmatic chains of orthodox photography. There’s an extensive gallery of her work and a link to download her books if you don’t want to buy the real paper ones. Her blog is titled Still Alive and features some brilliant techniques like making images with textures created by transferring negatives from a printed transparency medium onto paper using mod podge. I haven’t had a chance to check out her books, but I believe they have more techniques in them as well.
What I appreciate most about Nista’s work is that it’s not cynical. So many street photographers focus on the ugliness of the world, she makes you feel like a casual observer taking a stroll through the city – - – - Holga Blog. photography magazine: Featured non.photographer: Nitsa

172 pages of ideas and inspiration for creative and experimental photography.
The first part of this book about photographing without following the rules while at the same time exploring new methods and ideas to approach photography.
The second part of the book shares numerous ways to present your photographs artistically such as Image transfers, texture layers, mixed media photography and so on. You will see how easy it is to take your ordinary photos to the next level and you don’t even have to attend an art school or have any special skills to utilize these creative techniques.
The third section includes an article about Print on Demand, selected entries from my photography blog, and final thoughts.
All the processes shared in the book are the product of many experiments, endless trial and errors, I made in the last couple of years. I hope you will find these techniques easy to do and most of all they will inspire you to create your own photo-art work.
